Natural Treatment and Medical Treatment

Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is not dangerous with 3 days to permanent bv relief, but it can cause disturbing symptoms. It is due to an overgrowth of bacteria that are normally in the vagina of anaerobic bacteria (meaning that they don’t need any oxygen to survive or grow) and an organism called Gardnerella vaginalis. Bacterial Vaginosis is a pretty common condition affecting many women and it is the most common lower genital tract syndrome in women of reproductive age.The symptoms are vaginal discharge and odor. Some women report a strong fish-like odor, especially after sexual intercourse. When semen (male sperm) mixes with vaginal secretions, the odor becomes stronger. If you notice any of the following symptoms, you may be suffering from Bacterial Vaginosis: Increase in vaginal discharge, Thin vaginal discharge that is white or gray in color, Strong fishy or unpleasant musky vaginal odor, Itching, burning or pain in the genital area. You may or may not experience the usual signs of Bacterial Vaginosis.

Factors that can change the balance in our vaginas and put us at risk of having BV include douching (we do not recommend douching with sprays or over the counter preparations),using antibiotics, hormonal changes. These risk factors include: Vaginal Intercourse: Women who have participated in vaginal intercourse appear to be much more likely to develop bacterial vaginosis than those women who are abstinent. As you can see bacterial vaginosis can arise as a result of many factors, but if you take care to avoid most of these, you should be able to prevent bacterial vaginosis from occurring or even recurring. Most treatments of bacterial vaginitis or atrophic vaginitis usually focus on identifying which vaginal bacteria or fungus that is over growing or causing the atrophy, and bringing that bacterial overgrowth back into a more natural balance in harmony with the other bacterium and flora present in the vagina. There is an astounding number of Vaginosis recurrence with those conventional treatments: An approximate 50%. Also, the fact that we see such a staggering number of recurrence is proof that the conventional treatments seems to only target the symptoms, and not the real root cause.
